Question: What was your most impactful RPG session?
Answer: Man, that’s a really hard question. I’d have to pick one of two options I think.
- Running Planet Mercenary for Steve Jackson at LibertyCon 2015. It solidified (both through feedback and self-confidence) that I could do this as a job (create games) and I was good at it.
- The first time I ran Pendragon. I’d spent my whole life looking for “the perfect RPG”, and at that point I realized I’d found the thing closest to it, I was ever likely to find. Finding my favorite RPG was a bit of a…shock?
I’m sure there’s tons of transformative sessions in big and little ways: Bad sessions that taught me to be a better GM or taught me how to handle difficult personalities at my table. Good sessions that taught me what I was doing right and reignited my love for the hobby.
